    Practical Guide for NGO's/Institutions-2009
    (Directory of International Funding Agencies)

Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) play an important role in the development of a society. They endeavour for making good living conditions of the neglected, the underprivileged and the destitute people. Ours is a socialist country and our Government thrusts upon the upliftment of the downtrodden and vulnerable sections of the society. But without properimplementing agencies working at the grass roots level, all budgetary allocations, Government grants and aid schemes will go down the drain. It is the NGOs who execute the various Government programmes and thus play a significant role in achieving the socialist objective of our Constitution. It is because of NGOs that we see a more civilised society. However, with the growth in industrialisation, economic development and increasing lure for materialistic things, the process of commercialisation of social institutions has set in. Charitable trusts, welfare bodies, voluntary agencies and NGOs, all are being misused as a medium of diverting public money for personal gains. It is not only the funds and services of these institutions which are being misused for personal benefit in disguise of charity, but these are also being maneovered for gaining publicity, developing contacts with influential persons, attaining high status, getting a berth in elected bodies like Panchayat, Assembly or Parliament and even position in the Go vernment. For this reason, people are losing faith inthese institutions and they generally hesitate in giving donations to them. This has made the people more self-centred and the sentiment of public benefit or charity is getting blurred day by day.

International Information. Resource Centre has been collected the details of hundreds of International Development organizations and brought out a directory on CD-ROM, It containing International Social welfare Organizations, Indian Government Schemes, Religious Charity organizations, Faith-based organizations such as International Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist organizations, NRIs Associations, International Human Rights Organizations, National/International Women’s Organizations, UN/Amnesty International Offices, Solar Promotion Organizations, International Chamber of Commerce’s, Trade & Business Institutions, Some individuals and organizations who provide Material/ Technical/Financial Assistance, give funds for various projects. On various social developmental Schemes. Here you find complete information of Donors & Funding Sources from around the world. And hundreds of Organizations added every month and much more...

It also contains Central/Foreign Registration details and many more topics. This database also covers Ministry wise schemes in all the sectors including the policies, guidelines, Notifications, Circulars & Press Releases, Application Forms, Declarations, Specimens and hundreds of schemes of
    Government of India.

The directory aims to promote interaction and active partnerships among governments, private sector and key dev. organizations in civil society, including NGOs, trade unions, faith-based organizations, indigenous peoples movements, foundations and research centres. In creating opportunities for dialogue with governments and private sector, civil society organizations are helping to amplify the voices of the poorest people in the decisions that affect their lives, improve development effectiveness and sustainability and hold governments and policymakers publicly accountable.
