NICE Foundation
Location: Hyderabad, AP.
Last Date: September 3, 2010
NICE Foundation was registered in the year 2002 at Hyderabad under the Public Charitable Trust Act (Reg. no. 1007-IV-32 of 2002). The foundation works towards saving lives by providing quality health care to the most deserving sections of the society.
Currently, our focus is on three major sections of the populations:
(a) Young ones- the newborn and Children
(b) Most deserving- the government school child
(c) Neglected- tribal women and children.
NICE has been successfully creating innovative models and partnerships between the state governments, corporate and the civil society so as to provide state-of-art health care to these populations. These models serve as guides for provision of comprehensive health services. Through these partnerships, innovative, cost-effective and replicable health care interventions are being implemented in 2 states of the country, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Additional expansion plans are on way.
Current programs of the organization are :
1. NICE (Neonatal Intensive Care and Emergencies) Institute for the newborn focuses on caring for the young ones in the city of Hyderabad. It has been established as a public-private partnership model to provide clinical care and help to its patients, irrespective of their ability to pay. This institute is first of its kind with exclusive neonatal facility of 120 beds to provide quality health care to the newborns.
2. NICE Hospital for Children – Beyond high quality newborn care, NICE has broadened it horizon to include older infants and children by adding the pediatric division that provides highest quality pediatric and surgical services. Beyond high – quality care NICE understands the requirements and importance of a healthy and active life as the child grows through infancy to young adulthood. NICE has a multi-disciplinary, full fledged pediatric team of experienced professionals. The philosophy is to not only to treat the illness, but the child as a whole.
3. School Health Program was initiated on the basic principle that education does not function in isolation. It was noted that children in government schools frequent bouts of absenteeism and a generic low energy index. It was discovered that lack of treatment and ill health were the common causes of the above said problem. Most of the parents of the children studying in Government Schools cannot afford the expenses involved in availing these treatments.
4. Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Program
Maternal death is a great cause of concern for the developing countries in Africa and South Asia. Maternal deaths generally occur in remote places with inaccessible terrains with none or little transport and communication channels in these regions. NICE Foundation, however, with commitment to strive for quality health care believes that if women and children of the region were provided with an effective ante-natal, post natal care, conducting of safe deliveries , basic care to the new born , could change conditions towards betterment.
